If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

The Joburg leg of the workshop has sold out and we seem to have a nice
selection of attendees arriving from all over Africa.

WHERE: In case you managed to miss it, the workshop will be held at Oakfield
Farm in Muldersdrift (nearest airport Lanseria, nearest highway from PTA is
the N14 and from Joburg side you’ll want to head up Beyers Naude – although
I’m pretty sure most Johannesburg photographers have shot at Oakfield at
some point).

– map and detailed directions can be found at –
http://www.oakfield.co.za/map/index.php
– we are going to be in the Dairy which is the new hall right at the back
of Oakfield.

WHEN: 15th/16th Feb. We’re aiming to start at 9h00 and end at 16h30.

WHAT TO BRING: You’ll want to bring a camera and a (speedlight) flash for
the demo sections. If you have triggers, pocket wizards etc, this is a great
opportunity to get Sybrand to show you tips and tricks on your versions so
bring them along. We will have some demo gear on the day that you can
practice with as well before diving into the world of triggers, synch speeds
and brackets.

This is a fairly technical workshop, so bring something to take notes. If
you’re going to plug in, be kind and bring a multi-adaptor.

Lunch, coffee, tea and snacks will be provided, you’ll want to bring some
cash for softdrinks or if you plan on having wine with lunch.

—————————————————————————————————————————————–

DAY 1

We start off with the basics (things like different types of flashes,
hardware, light stands, triggers and modifiers). There will be lots of
samples, live demo’s and plenty Q&A’s. After lunch we’ll move onto the more
technical stuff like camera/flash angles, working with the sun and multiple
light setups.

DAY 2

We’ll do a recap of day one and then move on the more advanced stuff like
high speed sync and how to manipulate the ambient light. Sybrand will do a
demo shoot in the early afternoon with a model after which you will get time
to play and apply your newly found knowledge. We’ve also arranged for a
whole range of demo gear that he’ll discuss.

——————————————————————————————————————————————

Ok, bring on the questions, and yes I did see that equation on Sybrand’s
site for the Inverse Square Law, I doubt we’ll be doing any math. This
workshop is about using your flash quickly and efficiently in a time
constrained wedding type scenario.
