THE EXPERIENCE

RE.INVENT II is a blend of two distinct and very very different views on wedding photography in Africa. It is a workshop hosted by two photographers who have taken wedding photography, given it a good shake and developed unique styles of photography that have seen them shooting weddings throughout southern Africa. It is a glimpse into how they work, how they see, what they look for, how they developed their very unique styles. You will leave the workshop with the skills to be able to walk into any venue, identify amazing locations, be able to manage whatever light is being thrown at you and create a masterpiece.

Located at the world famous Cradle of Humankind, Forum Homini is nestled in a private game reserve and is an architectural masterpiece set amidst references to the past, from ancient totems, sculptures representing various stages of evolution to subtle handprints cast in cement. It is a extraordinary venue to experience a reinvention and unearthing of your own photographic vision.

Dror and Andrea will teach you:

How to compose, direct and produce beautiful photos under harsh conditions
The one thing that we do when we arrive at a venue to ensure that we have a killer bee shoot
How to generate genuine expressions and moments from your clients
No BS posing techniques that will make your couple look like rockstars
The skills to break out of the “wedding photography” mould and develop your own distinctive style
Marketing techniques that work in our industry
How to develop a brand identity to stand out in the South African market

The workshop includes:

Live shooting session with model under an African sun
Presentations by both Dror and Andrea focusing on how to create unique images
A discussion on marketing techniques that we use and how we went about creating our brands
That all important lunch where you get to network and chat to other photographers
QA session – all questions answered (ask anything)

Dror Eyal is a South African wedding photographer living and working in Johannesburg. Though undeniably photo-documentary in nature, Dror’s wedding work is defined through an editorial urge to fix narratives to his subjects. ANDREA CARLYLE

Andrea Carlyle has made a big impact on the South African wedding scene with her amazing eye for detail and composition. Her work resists the usual cliche’s surrounding wedding photography without artificially forcing the boundaries or jumping on the next bandwagon. See more of her work on her blog.
